👋 WSUP! I’m John Cho, a designer based in San Francisco.
My design journey began at UC Berkeley where I gained a solid technical foundation in software development. During my time at Cal, I competed at CalHacks 5.0 for the Omnisci + Uber API Challenge (1st Place), where we created a data visualization web application that maps regional accessibility in the Bay Area to local businesses and vendors. Amidst lines of code and complex algorithms, I was exposed to the immense power that design can have on influencing human behavior and experiences. As a result, I decided to venture into the world of design armed with a technical approach to developing practical solutions.
For the past two years, I have been honing my design skills at Dulon Studio, a design-build architecture firm based in the Bay Area. I work closely with our clients to envision and reimagine their space, and engage with our subcontractors and suppliers to bring floor plans to life out on the job site. Many aspects of the design process translate over to product design, whether it may be talking to and balancing the needs of different stakeholders or conveying design decisions to our client to accommodate for their budget constraints.
My superpower as a designer? A boundless imagination. With a technical foundation in creating optimized, scalable applications, I blend big ideas with practical know-how, transforming dreams into tangible realities.
When I'm not immersed in the world of design, you can find me lacing up for a run, doodling or animating in 3D. My trusty sidekick in this adventure is Subi, my adorable cat who's turning 5 this year:
